27 Apr Introducing…
Hi, my name is Katie. I know everyone’s dying to learn a little about KreativElement’s newest hire, so let me introduce myself.
What are your qualifications?
I come to KE after doing marketing for two different startups in Omaha. My experience at those companies gave me a great understanding of marketing tasks ranging from copywriting, email marketing, rudimentary design, social media marketing and project management. They also taught me to think on my feet and pitch in where needed, as it isn’t unusual to work outside your job description at a startup company.
But what about your life before that?
I grew up in a small town. You may have heard of it – does Minden, Nebraska ring a bell? We’re known for our one and only fascinating attraction, Pioneer Village, although the two stoplights in town give it a run for its money. I moved to the “big city” to attend Creighton University and never seemed to leave after graduation.
So, are you a full-fledged, college-educated marketing genius?
I don’t know if I would say that. Coming into college I was one of few freshman that was absolutely certain I wasn’t pre-med. On a side note, I would estimate if you ask any Creighton freshman their major, 90% will say pre-med. Regardless, I ended up becoming an anthropology major.
In my anthropology courses I was able to learn about dozens of different cultures, both living and dead, while honing my writing skills. I accredit my degree in anthropology for giving me a unique perspective on life. But don’t fret, I do have some formal education in marketing. I discovered marketing classes toward the end of my college experience and came just shy of a marketing minor.
Well, what are you going to be doing at KE?
My official title is Marketing Specialist, but what does that really mean? It means I will be helping to market some of Omaha’s best and brightest small businesses. My main responsibilities will be social media marketing and copywriting.
Okay, that all sounds great, but who are you outside of work?
Well, outside of work I’m a pretty boring person. Most of my time is spent either eating, at the gym or parked in front of my TV watching Netflix. I mean, of course I do things like hang out with my friends, walk my dog and maybe even read the occasional book—just not as often.
I think that’s enough about me for now. I’m ecstatic to continue my career at KreativElement and can’t wait to meet more of our wonderful clients!
