How to Market to the Younger Generation.

Hello, I’m Abigail one of the newest employees at KE. I prefer to be called Abbie, but will answer to anything. A fun fact about me is that I am the youngest out of the whole KE team!

Today, I’m going to talk about my generation, how we use social media, and how to use marketing skills to get my generation involved.

       

The 16-25-year-old generation is more socially involved than older generations because of one thing, the smartphone. It gives people more access to social media such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.

 

The smartphone has come so far and is used for about 2-4 hours a day. With the world growing into a social media market, more young people are creating small businesses, and making videos on YouTube to make money. This group of individuals is a major part of the social media society that is still growing today. More often than not, these entrepreneurs don’t get the credit they deserve. For example, older generations may not consider making YouTube videos a ‘real job’.

       

So, how can you reach out to the younger generation with social media? Make your posts creative, fun, and modern. For example click here for ideas! Most young people love pictures. We also love reading about your background, but keep it short and to the point. We want to know a little about you, so make it personal.

 

The younger generation has a very short attention span – we lose interest really quickly, but want to read an article that has meaning. Some of us like to solve puzzles or read things with hidden meanings.

 

Why do we enjoy these things? We want you to be honest with us. We want to read an article that we are going to remember. We are all different in a lot of ways, but the one thing we all have in common is social media. Use it to your advantage.
