5 Ways to Improve Social Media Engagement

by | Aug 2, 2022 | Social Media, Tips and Tricks

Do you ever post online and feel like you’re just sending content into the abyss? You’re not alone. According to a study by AOL and Nielsen, 27 million pieces of social media content are shared daily. So, in a world where social media users are constantly being overloaded, how do you get the quality engagement you crave?

Here are 5 tips for you to try out –

Interact
Great! You have gained those followers, now get to know your audience! Ask and answer questions, comment and like other people’s posts, tag accounts when you are able to, and follow back those who regularly interact with your content. After all, social media is rooted in interaction with family and friends.

“Keep it simple, sweetie!”
Short and sweet copy has a better chance of not seeming overwhelming, providing more of a chance for it to be read in its entirety. So, write as much as you need to get your point across and stop there.

Post a video
Now more than ever, algorithms on various social media platforms are focused on pushing videos. Videos tend to be more interesting and capture audience attention better than static posts do. After a few tries, I’m sure you’ll find creating videos to be fun and easy! And seeing the interaction will be a bonus.

Be authentic
Vulnerability can be more charming to an audience than perfection. Showing your true self will be more relatable to your following and will help you to build deeper connections and trust over time.

Consistency
Consistency > frequency. While consistency on social media requires discipline, it is worth it. Going from posting two times a day to nothing for a week is confusing to your audience and will cause engagement to drop. Once you gain a loyal audience, people will look forward to seeing what you’re up to!

Remember that while tons of followers can be validating and exciting, genuine engagement and interaction is more important! Try out different ideas and be patient on social media, all good things take time.
