So you’ve found your niche and started creating and posting content, but how do you know it’s working? It’s time to check your social media insights! We’ll be covering some of the basics and a breakdown of why social media insights are important. You don’t need any fancy software, just the social media platforms themselves will do. If you can’t find the respective “Insights” tabs on all platforms on your own, take advantage of the multiple online tutorials to walk you through them.
Why Are Social Media Insights Important?
As a small business, it’s crucial to keep a close eye on your social media insights. By tracking metrics such as likes, shares, and followers, you can gain valuable insights into what content is resonating with your audience and what isn’t. This information can help you fine-tune your social media strategy and create content that better engages your followers. So don’t neglect your social media insights – they can help you take your business to the next level!
Followers/Likes
You don’t even have to search for this one, as the number is displayed on all of your profiles. Over time, this important feature will clearly show your growth in followers and likes. The goal here is obviously to increase engagement, so these numbers are important to track. . Other insights we share in this blog will help you determine what else can be done to increase these numbers.
Reach
This indicates the total number of people that see your content. Paid ads and boosted posts typically perform best here because you are paying for the post to spread across to a set audience rather than just your followers. If your reach is low on a post, it may determine that you need to set a budget behind the post or accumulate a larger amount of followers for organic reach. Think of these as your “unique” users.
Impressions
These show the number of times that your content is displayed, no matter if it was clicked or viewed. Keep in mind that one of your followers could see your post 2-3 times on their feed even without clicking it, depending on the algorithm. For example, if your post popped up on 200 different screens, then your number of impressions for that post would be 200.
Interactions
These will look a little different across the board. On Instagram, it will refer to your profile visits and website clicks. Facebook will generate it as the actions taken on your page, such as link clicks, action button clicks, etc. Other platforms, like X, generate it as your profile visits and mentions. These interactions can really help determine the popular “actions” taken on your pages.
Insights will provide you with a deeper understanding of how your followers perceive your brand, product, resources, etc. They are very helpful when you’re trying to determine what your goals are on each platform and help you understand the best way to reach them.
